Once again this has been a very exciting football season with two teams at the endline to achieve their ultimate goal- winning the Super Bowl. The game is on for the New England Patriots vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.

While the ‘battle on the field’, viewed by more than 100 million Americans, continues the advertising industry fights for your attention of their commercials. This year advertisers had to invest over $5 million for a 30 second spot.
The following are some of my favourites.

Tourism Australia ‘Dundee’

Sorry, the reboot of Crocodile Dundee ain’t happening, this trailer is just a genius commercial that shows you everything Australia has to offer, narrated by their excellent Hollywood export of actors. Tourism Australia teamed up with ad firm Droga5 and spent $27 million to create this unique spot and several pieces, that will be released over the next two years, to lure Americans Down Under. 🇦🇺

Stella Artois ft. Matt Damon ‘water.org & Stella Artois’

Although this ad is probably the most rational that was broadcasted during this fun event it’s always important to keep in mind that there are people less fortunate than us. Water is the elixir of our lifes and there are over 650 million people in developing countries that don’t have access to water by simply turning on the tap. For this commercial Stella Artois teamed up with Matt Damon, one of the co-founders of water.org, to bring awareness and do good, which couldn’t be any easier.

What would the Super Bowl be without the Manning brothers starring in commercials? – Exactly.

Wait for the end… he kind of has a point. Very clever!

Amazon ‘Alexa Loses Her Voice’

Alexa’s voice is irreplaceable after all.

Intuit ‘A Giant Story’
(Agency: Passion Animation Studios)

The ad might be a little too long and hard to follow in case you use the break for other activities.
However, the storyline itself is conclusive and fitting for the client. Moreover the 3D making and animation are incredible!

In my opinion well known brands like Jeep, Skittles, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Bud Light, Budweiser, T-Mobile have definitely been the biggest disappointments of this years Super Bowl commercials, due to lack of originality, creativity and comprehension.
